COMPOSTING – Scatter a handful of pellets into each layer of garden waste added to the compost heap to enrich the compost and add trace elements. Pelleted chicken manure is among the most popular and widely available non-chemical, organic fertilisers on the market, making it a popular choice among amateur gardeners.

Suitable for all plants including natives and is ideal for establishing new plants, particularly bare-rooted roses and vegetable plants. The other two essential plant nutrients are: phosphorus (P, usually referred to as phosphate), responsible for root growth; and potassium (K, usually known as potash), for flower and fruit production.Avoid direct, undiluted, contact with tender young plants - scatter pellets about 50 to 80mm (2-3 inches) away and work into surface of the soil. We all know chicken manure pellets are an excellent source of nitrogen for the plants in our vegetable garden.

All organic fertilisers depend on contact with moisture and soil to break down naturally; releasing their nutrients and enhancing soil fertility.Potassium and phosphorus levels vary but are estimated to be 80 percent of that available in a commercial fertilizer. Or purchase some of our anti-weed prevent membrane and some gravel or mulch, for an easy weed-free garden! It is not a factory produced chemical fertiliser: it is poultry droppings in their modern, easy to use form. The dry pellets are easy to handle and use plus they’re rich in organic matter and nutrients essential for healthy growth. Always water in plants and crops once they have been planted to ensure nutrient uptake through the roots.

Add to soil 2 weeks prior to transplanting, making sure the soil is ready for nutrient uptake and aiding growth after moving. The pathogens in the manure stop reproducing at temperatures of 140 to 160 degrees F, a temperature that can be reached in a compost pile.Optimal storage conditions for chicken manure include keeping it in a covered area and retaining its liquid, because a significant amount of nitrogen exists in the urine. Always leave at least 90 days between manure application and harvest of vegetables that grow above the soil, like peppers, eggplants, and trellised cucumbers and tomatoes. Manure from the sheds is now collected for use as fuel in a biomass-burning power station at Westfield in Fife. Natural Fertiliser Pellets are everything you need for growing success all around the garden in one bucket! While fresh chicken manure is high in nitrogen, it may contain bacteria that can be harmful to humans, and is unpleasant to transport and handle.

The study concluded that the use of cow manure only as a fertilizer fared best, and the use of chicken manure only as a fertilizer fared second best. It also has small traces of phosphorus and potassium; phosphorus releases slowly to promote root growth, while potassium promotes flower and helps fruits and vegetables ripen.Because it’s so high in nitrogen, chicken manure is a great natural fertiliser for plants, but if you’re not careful it can be a case of too much of a good thing. Roses - Use two to three handfuls to each rosebush when planting, one or two handfuls for established bushes when the buds begin to swell and again before the second flush of blooms.
