About this deal

Since it started being promoted by Channel 5 earlier this year, The House Across The Street has been labelled as a limited series. We want our comments to be a lively and valuable part of our community - a place where readers can debate and engage with the most important local issues. The House Across the Street: based on a true story or book

He recently starred as DS Norman Potting in ITV’s Grace, and has had recent guest appearances in Hullraisers, Vera, and Sandylands. Ian-Lloyd Anderson starred in the massive fantasy show, Game of Thrones, as well as Blood, Herself, Dublin Oldschool and more recently Redemption. Other notable TV roles include that of Marie Melmotte in The Way We Live Now, villain Frances Drummond in Happy Valley, and Siobhan in The Nest. Vardy v Rooney: Channel 4 unveils Wagatha Christie drama cast - including Game of Thrones and Sherwood stars Then there is new teacher George (Craig Parkinson) and neighbour Joanne (Sara Powell) who seems to be enjoying all the drama far too much.

At the end, Emily’s body was found. Camera crews descended to report on the tragedy. Raw and bereft, Claudia surveyed the scene through tears. Was she crying because she had hoped to find Emily alive? Or did her pain come from somewhere darker? “I just don’t want it to be over,” she told a reporter. “Not yet.” A third said: "The one I suspect you're on about was in Doctor Who and her voice was a bit grating in that, too. And she ended up being a paving stone." He’s also known for Love/Hate, an Irish series he starred in alongside Umbrella Academy‘s Robert Sheenan. One of his early roles was as Spinky Sutherland in the BBC comedy drama Outlaws in 2004 – not to be confused with the recent hit The Outlaws.

Collecting money for Emily’s family gave Claudia the perfect excuse to strike up a rapport with teacher George (Craig Parkinson), a colleague she’d been admiring from afar. Few people can do “woman with an albatross on her shoulders” through pure body language like Shirley Henderson can. Hence she was an inspired choice to play weirdo Claudia in The House Across the Street, a sad, lonely, introverted school nurse who would have terrified me if I’d had to go to her with a nosebleed. Don’t come here expecting any levity — there’s not a sliver. It is a dark, psychological deep dive into troubled souls. But one done with an artful intensity. The show’s synopsis says of Claudia: “Her opportunity to be a hero comes when a young child in her community – Emily Winter – goes missing.

The House Across The Street focuses on the life of an isolated mum, Claudia, who is also a nurse recovering from breast cancer. Some limited series in the past have gone on to have more episodes, such as Big Little Lies, Euphoria and The Flight Attendant on other channels and streaming platforms.

The House Across the Street, review: a pleasingly off-kilter

Shirley Henderson leads the cast of The House Across the Street, a brand new Channel 5 drama. The Harry Potter star plays Claudia, a lonely single mother and school nurse longing for connection. She then starred as Isobel Sutherland in the BBC series Hamish Macbeth, which was loosely based on the book series by Marion Chesney. The grand finale is airing this evening, Tuesday, October 25, on Channel 5, finally wrapping up Claudia's (played by Shirley Henderson) story.Other film roles you might recognise Shirley from include the Matron in Wild Child, Sophie in Marie Antoinette, and Lucille Hardy in Stan & Ollie. The 56 year old has been acting ever since 1987, and has had plenty of impressive film and TV roles since. There will be four hour-long episodes of The House Across the Street, with the first airing on Monday, October 17 at 9pm on Channel 5 and My5. The second episode will then air the following day (Tuesday, October 18) at 9pm, with the final two instalments showing next week.
