About this deal

Either side open with the other side and central door closed – great for cooking when the rain is coming down. The Scorpion 2 IX™ will shelter you from the worst four-season weather, it has a 5000mm hydrostatic head (HH) polyurethane (PU) coated flysheet, with taped seams. The Scorpion 2 IX™ has an impressive sleeping space, measuring 205cm/81” long and 110cm/43” wide, creating ample room for two people in a top-toe sleeping arrangement with an additional spacious front porch for extra storage. In an emergency, there is enough space to accommodate up to six people sitting down. Once the free-standing outer is up, the inner is joined on by a large number of attachment points. While it got a bit tedious hooking them all in, they do a great job of keeping the inner taut and away from the outer. The Quasar 200 has a large covered porch with a detachable groundsheet that’s lightweight and perfect for extra storage.

You need a quality four-season tent if you are preparing a BOB. You never know when disaster is going to strike, and if you’re banking on it hitting during the warmer months, you’re really throwing the dice. In many places, warm weather only comes four months a year. Those aren’t odds that are in your favor. I recommend your BOB including shelter that is substantial regardless of what season it is. You can have the central door open (either strapped at the top or held with poles to create a porch) – the normal configuration. There is a hanging loop near the door of the inner tent, but unfortunately this ripped off when I was inspecting it. I’d also have to question the effectiveness of the storm-flaps on the outer zips: they’re held in place by one piece of Velcro and were blown open even in light winds. Snugpak Scorpion 2 Verdict Every tent that I’ve ever either bought or used has advertised itself to be a “two-man” or “four-man”, or what-have-you tent. They’re all liars. I suppose within the tent industry the engineers are all roughly four feet tall. The Snugpak Scorpion 2 Tent is the two person little brother of a tent, to the three person Scorpion 3 and features the same sleek and stylish design. A very impressive tent by anyone’s standards and is not made with cheap materials, it is a top quality product made to some exacting standards. A spacious two-person tent, the Scorpion 2 will shelter you from the worst four-season weather, with an impressive 5000mm Hydrostatic Head PU Coated Fly sheet, with taped seams and a No-See-Um Mesh Mosquito Net, to keep out the bugs in summer months and warmer climates. For expeditions and base camping, the Scorpion design is the perfect green, allowing you to fly-pitch your tent with minimal environmental impact to the surrounding areas, using an opposing pole system to form a spacious base- tent that keeps condensation build up to a minimum with multiple ventilation channels.

Using its sleek design and its 5000-mm polyurethane fly, the Scorpion 2 is able to deflect fierce winds and heavy rainfall, making this tent suitable for the harshest weather. Space – How much room do you need inside your tent? If you’re camping alone, a two man tent is more than enough room. If you’re camping with a buddy, you’ll have to take into consideration whether you’ll need the extra room or if a two man tent is spacious enough. The Scorpion 2 tent from Snugpak is a sturdy 2-man tent that has been constructed to withstand harsh 4 season weather conditions. The tent is lightweight at 2.65kg all-in and the design conveniently allows the parts to be split up and carried by different people. Performance When buying any new tent, you’ll need to consider your needs first. Things to think about before purchasing a two person tent:

Strong fibreglass poles make this a hardy and reliable tent that should see you through many enjoyable camping trips.

The Scorpion 2™ IX will shelter you from the worst four-season weather, it has a 5000mm hydrostatic head (HH) polyurethane (PU) coated flysheet, with taped seams. In an emergency, there is enough space to accommodate up to six people sitting down. Time – Do you need a tent that pitches in seconds? More importantly, are you able to pitch your tentalone or will you need an extra hand? If you’re camping with another person, you’ll have a second set of helping hands. But if you’re camping alone or with your furry friend, you may want to consider how easy or difficult it is to pitch a two-person tent with little to no support. Price – How much are you willing to spend? Depending on the tent features, size and weight, two person tents vary in price. The Scorpion 2 is not a tent for people over 6ft! If your under 6ft then you will find that there is quite a nice amount of room for 2 people, at it’s longest length it is just over 2m and its just under 2m at it’s widest. It’s not a square and it does taper though, as the footprint diagram shows.

It’s frustrating to wake up and find that the inside walls of your tent are covered in water. You only find this out after you’ve accidentally bumped the wall and it all comes falling down on your face. Having cold water spit all over your face is an unpleasant way to wake up in the morning. At the door end (which is a door & mesh door) there is plenty of room to sit up with a height of 122cm, however, the height at the rear of the tent for us was a slight issue, our over 6ft tester couldn’t stretch out with out his feet touching the inner fabric. With two people this maybe even worse and could potentially cause the inner to touch the outer. The shape also means you would require mummy shaped sleeping mattress. Having two doors on a tent is a useful feature when space is tight. On the Trespass Battuta, you’ve not only got a door on either end but also a vestibule on each too. With easy access from either side and plenty of space to store boots out of the rain, this two man tent is a great option for those wanting a little extra room. You could have all your gear dry, safe, and bug-free inside while still being able to feel like you’re not sleeping like Harry Potter under a cramped stairwell. A True Four-Season Tent

With over 40 years of experience, UK outdoor experts Snugpak offer a high-quality range of tried and tested tents for use in the most challenging of conditions. This tent gives you a fourth option. It has flaps outside of the tent to form a vestibule where you can store your stuff. So, if you’ve been hiking through the rain all day and don’t like the idea of bringing muddy boots inside with your sleeping bag, the problem’s solved. You just leave them under the outside gear cover. Again, that’s an incredibly cool feature. The classic dome design gives plenty of headspace throughout, making this feel like a roomy two man option. With taped seams, you’ll find you stay dry in moderate rain showers, but you may want to look at a different option if you’re spending prolonged periods camping in wet weather. Several unique features make this tent resistant to all weather camping. In-built mosquito nets are useful to keep bugs outside, and the outer layer of this tent is removable, which is a good option for keeping the interior temperature down on warm nights. For an easy setup and to keep the rain out, the groundsheet on this model is sewn in. With a 3000mm waterproof rating and taped seams, this tent can handle heavy rain, which is a must-have when you’re camping in the UK.

Overall

One question we do have is whether the top of the tent would deal well with snow. It’s fairly flat and due to the ridges caused by the poles snow would build up rather than be displaced to the ground. We couldn’t test this fully, but similar tent designs have been known to have problems with snow. It’s for this reason we classify the Scorpion 2 as a 3 – 4 season tent rather than a full 4 season tent. In terms of structure, this tent has aluminium poles, an internal layer that clips on easily and then the option of adding a flysheet on top for protection from the elements. The Scorpion 2 Tent gives you a robust expedition level shelter in the Snugpak Professional range. This versatile camping shelter is built around a super stable geodesic design which offers a practical living space with a low profile that holds up to the harshest of weather. On the down side of the vestibule is that it can only be unzipped from the bottom of the door. This is a bit of a reach and struggle in the middle of the night. That said, it’s a small down side to pay for a useful vestibule. Some of the vestibule configurations A Good Size – if your under 6ft!
