Morgan awakens in their house and finds everything normal again. Only she and Giselle are aware of the events, while everyone else believes it to be a dream. Giselle apologizes to Malvina for stepping over her plans, so Malvina allows her to join the town council. Some time later, Robert has moved his practice to Monroeville, Morgan and Tyson have started dating, and Nancy and Edward arrive for another visit to the Philips in their now happy life. The striped ensemble matches perfectly with her personality, which is bubbly and warm. The pattern resembles candy of some sort, at least to me! As a teen, Morgan doesn’t have time for Giselle or the magical memories of her childhood. Giselle laments she doesn’t “sing the right song anymore.” After a fight with Morgan ends with her angrily telling Giselle she’s only her “stepmother,” Giselle makes a desperate wish on a magic wishing wand (a house-warming present from Andalasia) for them to have a “fairytale life.” The song here is wonderfully bittersweet, with Adams bringing a tinge of sorrow to her shining voice. The synopsis then reveals that Giselle encounters neighbourhood queen bee, Malvina Monroe (Maya Rudolph), making Giselle feel even more out of place. I didn't do Robert's, true D82, because I actually like his, even though it is also how all of the costumes look - cheap. This thing looks cheap. But, looks is the key word. It only has cheap visuals. The script and songs and acting seem like they will all be great. King Edward is next, and he is one of my favorite characters! It's true there were pacing issues in the middle, as others have pointed out, and several other things could've been improved too. But, though the original is of course much superior, this was still not bad at all. Especially, compared with other Disney sequels. I'm actually looking forward to watching it again. I agree with Duster that the middle part is the least enjoyable as it feels longer than it actually is. I too think Robert's storyline was the weakest and needed more thought put into it. Given what the implications of Giselle's wish are, I feel it should have involved him being in mortal danger as dead parents is another one of fairytale tropes. And poor baby Sofia served no real purpose in the story other than to introduce the magic wand. Then she was just forgetten lol. Longtime collaborators Alan Menken and Stephen Schwartz know the formula for the perfect Disney song, having nabbed three Oscar nominations for their work on “Enchanted.” Here each song serves its purpose for the narrative, but there is nary a catchy earworm. There is one showstopper, performed by Menzel, who did not sing in the previous film. Her song “Love Power” may have a woefully generic name, but her voice is as powerful and spine-tinglingly beautiful as ever.

I remember there was one they said was very good that Disney wanted Alan Menken to rework for Ralph Breaks the Internet. He preferred to write a new song and save that one for another occasion. Could this be that occasion? Or is he saving it for a potential Broadway adaptation of Enchanted, for example?
