See below for the details. Crisp Name/FlavourAnother flavour from the Taste the Difference range that is going head-to-head with Tyrells and Kettle Chips, and another that competes very well, all things considered.
The name says it all. Nothing overly interesting to say about a fairly plain crisp other than they are decent value. So it stands to reason that these Marmite-flavoured crisps from Walkers are also vegan (cross-contamination risk aside), and also very tasty (if you are a lover, of course!). These are so good we thought they deserved their own entry in the table. As summer gets into a groove many of us feel the seasonal shift toward refreshing, fruity, fancy fizzy drinks of a Saturday evening. Typically this has us reaching for cider, wine or prosecco. Make one wrong move with our choices however, and our syns for the week are thrown off -- undoing all of the good work for the week. To put this into perspective, here are a couple of summer faves and their syn values: The Deli flavours that are vegan friendly are: Mediterranean Balsamic Vinegar, Roasted Garlic & Mediterranean Herbs (Pita Chips), and Anglesey Sea Salt.One of the oldest and best-loved ridge cut crisps, the following McCoy’s flavours are vegan: Salted, Salt & Malt Vinegar, Paprika, and Hot Mexican Chilli Earlier in the week I wrote about the new Sweet Chilli Hula Hoops that have been brought out. These were one of two new flavours, the second one being this Sour Cream variety. I suppose Sour Cream is one of those flavours that is becoming more and more popular, so having it as a Hula Hoops flavour isn’t that surprising. What is surprising is that it hasn’t been done before, and it is a little disappointing the flavour isn’t a bit more unique. It isn’t a Limited Edition though, these are a new addition to the range, so I guess they are playing it safe. Keep an eye on the salt and fat - Some crisp types can be very high in fat and sodium, try to look for crisps which have less than 600mg for 100g and less than 5g of saturated fat for 100g.
Good news, Nik Nak lovers: none of the three main flavours – Nice ‘N’ Spicy, Rib ‘N’ Saucy or Scampi ‘N’ Lemon – contain any animal-derived ingredients and so are fine for vegans.Lighter and with less fat than the conventional Walkers crisps, the Oven Baked range take some getting used to for crisp fiends, but they are worth the effort.
